Trans-Ocean Launches National Advertising and Couponing Program to
Build Crab Classic Surimi Seafood Brand
BELLINGHAM, WA, January 18, 2008 - To build the market share leadership of its Crab Classic brand and to attract new consumers to the refrigerated seafood case, Trans-Ocean Products will break national print advertising in five leading women's magazines in February 2008. Additionally, the Crab Classic brand will be featured on the Kitchen Spaces segment of cable television program Designing Spaces which will air on select lifestyle cable networks nationwide in February and March of this year. Throughout the advertising schedule, Trans-Ocean is partnering with the SmartSource Online Savings Network, the largest provider of coupon promotions on the Internet to distribute coupons online. Trans-Ocean is investing in these marketing initiatives to support the Crab Classic product line which currently holds the #1 position in the surimi seafood category with a 33 percent market share.
"There's never been a better time to promote surimi seafood as a convenient and healthy option for today's consumers," commented Lou Shaheen, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Trans-Ocean. "As the market share leader, we believe our advertising will help drive category growth for our retail customers and build market share for our Classic brand at the same time."
Trans-Ocean print advertising will run nationwide in the February issues of Women's Day, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle and Ladies Home Journal. The ad, which promotes Crab Classic as "Today's Healthy Catch" and offers a recipe and coupon, will reach 20 million women readers in the prime 35-54 demographic.
The Kitchen Spaces segment features Crab Classic meal ideas and recipes presented by Trans-Ocean's Corporate Chef Mark Aaron Ross. Kitchen Spaces is produced by Quorum Productions of Pompano Beach, Florida and runs as a segment of the popular Designing Spaces program. The programming will appear on national cable networks such as The Food Network, The Learning Channel and a host of regional networks as well.
The SmartSource.com couponing program reaches over 50 million households each month, of which 84 percent are headed by 35-45 year old women.
