Trans-Ocean Named "Category Colonel" by PL Buyer Magazine

BELLINGHAM, WA, June 2, 2008 - Bellingham-based Trans-Ocean Products, Inc. was recently awarded the designation of "Category Colonel" by the food industry publication PL BUYER following a survey of retail food purchasing executives at supermarkets and other food retailers. The publication asked the executives to name the suppliers/vendors that delivered "excellence in private label partnership programs". Trans-Ocean was named the winner in the refrigerated seafood category, in which it produces and packs private label surimi seafood products for several leading supermarket chains.

"Being recognized in this way by our retail customers is truly an honor," commented Rick Dutton, President of Trans-Ocean. "We set our 'everyday' standards here to be the best at what we do. To see that our customers recognize the commitment and dedication of our team is especially gratifying."

The specific performance criteria that the retail buyers were asked to consider when selecting the Category Colonels included on-time and accurate deliveries, customized pricing and promotion strategies, and honest communication. Trans-Ocean's recognition as a top-rated supplier comes on the heels of being named a Category Colonel by PL BUYER'S sister publication, Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Retailer, again following a survey of retailers who recognized the company for its innovative marketing of the Crab Classic product line.

PL BUYER is the leading publication covering the private label consumer packaged goods business, focusing on marketing strategies and products sold through the food and drug trade. The magazine is published by BNP Media of Troy, Michigan and is distributed to more than 24,000 subscribers.
